Organization

The International Symposium on Wikis (WikiSym) is an annual conference series dedicated to wiki research and practice.

Fiscally, its sponsor is the U.S.-based 501(c)3 tax exempt organization The John Ernest Foundation, which lists WikiSym as one of its projects. Any donations to WikiSym are therefore tax deductible under U.S. tax law.

Organizationally, WikiSym is run by its steering committee, consisting of (a subset of) former conference and program chairs. The committee consists of

  • Ademar Aguiar, University of Porto
  • Phoebe Ayers, University of California, Davis
  • Amy Bruckman, Georgia Tech
  • Robert Biddle, Carleton University
  • Ward Cunningham, AboutUs
  • Alain Désilets, National Research Council of Canada
  • James Noble, Victoria University of Wellington
  • Dirk Riehle (chair), University of Erlangen-Nuremberg

The steering committee decides on where the next WikiSym is to be held and who will be conference and program chair. If you are interested in holding a WikiSym in your town or at your university, please contact us!
