I agree that Max's paper is quite similar to - tho more fleshed out than - the 
idea I floated.

I had taken Ward's reference to "real space collaboration" to mean that using 
common tools (like a common syntax) is one way to encourage and nurture 
collaboration.

But reading Max's note, I'm not sure anymore.
