InterWiki Workshop discussion This page is for discussing [InterWiki Workshop]. Also see the [InterWiki Gobby Session] (we took collective notes). 1 Topic suggestions ---- 1.1 Wiki Markup Standard Is there an interest? Is there a need? Is there WikiPedia participation or will WikiPedia just expect to become the standard? ---- 1.1 WikiGateway et al. Do we want to make wikis interoperable? What techologies are available? ---- 1.1 Wiki Language Can we unify the jargon we use? (''what the hell is a "snip" and a "label" here at snipsnap? Is it the same as a "page" and a "category"?) ~~You're right, snip is basically either a page or a weblog post, as snipsnap is a wikilog and was heavily influenced 1999/2000 by vanilla, which was a wikilog and there weren't too much wiki engines in '99. But a unified jargon would be a good thing~~ \-[Stephan Schmidt] ---- 1.1 Wiki Etiquette Do we want to define common expectations? Do we have a message in reaching out to those that to not yet participate? ---- 1.1 WikiNode, TourBus et al. How do we connect at a social level? ---- 1.1 Sustainability How can we make the workshop have effects for the future? Is it just an event or is there enough interest to install working groups or research group for various topics. Is there a need for a wiki developers association? Other organisations? ---- 1.1 Server/service? (by BillSeitz) Does InterWiki need something like DelIcioUs or TechnoRati? If MetaWiki isn't coming back soon, who's going to build and run that sucker? Or do we just pull together some code that anyone can run to build their own local service? Or does that lead to too many people polling too many wikis? ---- 1 Misc Discussion Hi, I ([Max Voelkel]) would like to present and discuss my ideas for a semantic wiki interchange format (swift). Some sketches can be found at http://www.xam.de/2005/05/SWIFT_wikisym05_submission.pdf . The main idea is to store the whole content of a wiki as RDF and thus avoid syntax issues (and discussions). Hi Max, yeah, that sounds neat. Until we hear from more people I can't guarantee how much time will be available to discuss any particular topic, but since we have a couple of hours tota;, it's very likely that you'll have at least 5 or ten minutes. I'll start reading your paper. Thanks! --- [Bayle Shanks] ---- The contents of this page is PublicDomain. Bayle Shanks 2005-10-20 20:34:34.776 2005-09-14 01:57:52.28
