I'm a computer science graduate student at Cal State, East Bay. Before that I worked in physics research labs.

I'm here because a big interest of mine is free off-the-shelf software to support small scientific collaborations. Wiki's seem like a good match but they are not widely used for this purpose. How do we get from here to there?

There seem to be many parallels between scientific collaboration and software development, and wikis are widely used by software developers. Perhaps by studying their use in software development, I gain some understanding that is applicable to scientific collaboration.
