Coffee
In the morning, before all conference activities starting, WikiSym 2008 have coffee, cookies, and more, to help you start the conference day with a lot of energy.
- On Monday, Coffee is served in the WikiSym 2008 room (I-105).
- On Tuesday and Wednesday, Coffee is served close to the main auditorium (A101).
Coffee Break
In the middle of the morning and afternoon, it is time to break, to talk, to refresh ourselves, and get energy from coffee and more.
Coffee Breaks is served always in the WikiSym 2008 room (I-105).
Lunch
Lunch meals are served as buffet in the Grill Restaurant, 100m far from Conference Rooms, in exclusivity for WikiSym 2008.
Posters & Welcome Reception
The Welcome Reception formally welcomes WikiSym 2008 participants to the Faculty of Engineering and the University of Porto.
During the reception, all the posters are on display and the respective authors present to discuss with you their work. The reception gives while conference participants the chance to learn with preliminary work in many different areas while you are served with a Port Wine Cocktail.
Special Event
For those that are visiting Porto for the first time, the Special Event will provide you an intensive impression of the city and its riverfront attractions.
We will leave the conference venue (FEUP) by bus, we will do some sightseeing, and we will end the bus trip at Ribeira de Gaia.
We will then take our time to visit the Porto Wine Cellars, and taste the most important thing they hold. To see Porto from the Douro river will follow, during a "Porto World Heritage Cruise".
After all of this, it will be dinner time. A restaurant nearby will serve us a buffet with the most important of the traditional Portuguese gastronomy.
BoFs - Birds of a Feather
'Birds of a Feather' is a shortening of the proverb "Birds of a feather flock together.", meaning that people (birds) of the same kind or interest (of a common feather) enjoy spending time (flocking) together.
BoF sessions are informal meetings, usually scheduled and organized on site, where people group together based on a shared interest and carry out discussions without any pre-planned agenda. Restaurants and bars usually provide a good setting for efective BoFs, but not exclusively.
